The name “Chi Alpha” is an abbreviation from the Greek chistou apostoloi meaning “Christ’s sent ones, or Christ’s representatives.”
Those words were taken from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians where he urged the followers of Jesus saying, “We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you. ” 2 Corinthians 5:20 MSG
The basic idea is that if one is known as follower of Jesus or if we call ourselves Christians, everything we say or do colors peoples opinion of what God is like. In Chi Alpha, as with the larger Fusion Community, we want to become true representatives of God; people living in tune with God, carrying forward God’s work of making things right between people, people and God, and people and the earth…
