There is no question that money is important in the world we live – often too important. Certainly many communities of faith have lost their way in the pursuit of the right use of money and we should always live in recognition of this. With that humbling realization in mind, we must seek as a community to live in the way of Jesus in our lives with money both collectively and individually. Money must never become a focus, but it also must never fall from care.
Both the scriptures and early history of the church demonstrate that followers of Jesus discovered a new way of living in relation to their possessions. They got onto the reality that ‘the earth is the Lords and everything in it’, and stopped being so possessive of what they had a bit of control over. You find people being confident in using and sharing the blessings of provision they had received, and others who sold much of what they had and distributed it to those who had need. This sharing dynamic was way beyond the idea of giving an offering to an organization, yet there was organization and community initiative involved.
We believe followers of Jesus are called to be generous, regularly sharing their resources to meet the needs of others within and outside of their ‘church’ community. There is no expectation that the people of Fusion Community will give a certain amount, or share only within Fusion Community, however we do expect that those who are committed participants will make it a priority to join with the others of this community by giving and sharing their resources to care for, build up, and further the work and vision of our collective.
To that end, we maintain a sharing table in our meeting space where resources, money, and serving opportunities can come and go. Those who prefer to give online can use our not-for-profit Verified PayPal donation option. It’s convenient, easy and secure.
