Biblical Global Justice

During the fall of ’09, our friend Randy Demary was taking classes at Gordon Conwell TS. After participating in the GCTS course, “Biblical Global Justice” he worked with Prof. Dean Borgman to modify the course and create something we could offer as a non-accredited class here at UNH. Randy has continued to develop the material, keeping up on current events, and has now created a training resource to help Campus Ministries around the country facilitate similar conversations on their own campuses. We offer the BGJ class during the spring semester at UNH.

Biblical Global Justice is an interactive class and discussion that forces us to think about and wrestle with the realities of suffering and injustice in our world.

As the class name suggests we explore the teachings of the Christian Scriptures as a foundation for and means to confront injustice. We use media, video, and scholarly articles to explore and draw attention to justice concerns in our world. The class is open to anyone regardless of religious beliefs, ethnicity, orientation, etc. We hope to have a diversity of views around the table as we seek to better understand what justice is, and how to work towards that goal in our world.

We anticipate that classes will end with more question marks than periods, but we hope it will establish a framework through which to view past and future justice issues and foster humble participation in the subversion of injustice.
